چکیده
Pre-recorded lectures for students to watch at their own convenience appears attractive, but little evidence supports the notion that if recordings are available, they will be watched. A lack of engagement with pre-recordings may exacerbated by remote learning environments in response population lockdowns and social isolation requirements. In this study, downloading was examined a large cohort introductory physiology course publicly funded university New Zealand. Data from four semesters impacted COVID-19 pandemic were examined. trend decreasing evident all - week 5 onwards, less than three-quarters recorded material downloaded, 8 60% pre-recorded downloaded. This appeared have impact on pass-rates, as these consistently above 85% throughout question. presented show even when there only option viewing lecture, many chose not to. Pre-recordings seem value some students, poor substitute attendance physical on-campus lecture experience.

Adaptive pre-recorded multimedia streaming
Lately, multimedia-related Internet applications have become very popular, and make up an increasing percentage of network traffic. This paper presents a quality-of-transmissionorientated adaptive mechanism for streaming of pre-recorded multimedia content. It aims to maintain the continuity of both the transmission and the remote stream play-out, at the expense of varying the stream's quality. ...
متن کاملVisualizing and quantifying movement from pre-recorded
When studying animal behaviour within an open environment, movement-related data are often important for behavioural analyses. Therefore, simple and efficient techniques are needed to present and analyze the data of such movements. However, it is challenging to present both spatial and temporal information of movements within a two-dimensional image representation. To address this challenge, we...
متن کاملSeconds, anyone?
Scientists and journalists don’t always see the world the same way. A “first” often makes news. But in science, the “second” – that is the confirmation – may actually be more important. Journalists are like toddlers, though, when it comes to seconds. They often need coaxing. Consider two recent cases. First, Neanderthal DNA. Back in 1997, reporters made a bit of a fuss when scientists announced...
متن کاملThird Genetic Code Anyone?
genome is a curious one, when so far as we know the specificity of those modifications depends on genome-encoded proteins. The hope of believers is that, once the modifications have been made they are 'self-replicating' — they guide similar modification of daughter chromatin. This remains a possibility, but so far at least there is little hard evidence for such self-replication, independent of ...
